What Makes PSC Special?
Pickering Standard Church is a welcoming community that seeks to know and follow God. Our example for living comes from Jesus and his directive, “’…'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'” Matthew 22:37-39 (NIV)
At PSC relationships are important, first with God and then with our neighbours. In our church and in our community each person is cared for and valued. We meet together so that we can walk together.
What time is the service?
Sunday 10:30 a.m.
What is the services like?
Our services are a blending of traditional and contemporary worship in a relaxed, family friendly atmosphere.
What should I wear?
Wear whatever you’re comfortable with.
You’ll find everything from jeans and t-shirts to suits and ties.
Is There Anything for the Children?
Children are invited to join with the rest of the church family as we open our service with music and then later they’ll slip away for their own fun filled program of Bible stories and activities.
What Does PSC Believe?
We believe in one God, who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and the Saviour of all men and women who put their faith in Him alone for eternal life.
We believe that those who receive new life in Christ are called to be holy in character and conduct, and can only life this way by being filled with the Lord’s Spirit.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the defining feature of God’s will for all humanity. He gives the highest and most practical example for holy living or godliness.
We believe in the Bible and seek to establish our faith and actions on its teaching.
We believe God wills for people everywhere to know Him and that the purpose of the Church is to tell the world about Christ through its worship, witness, and loving deeds.
Meet the Pastor
Rev. Christopher Burtch (Pastor Chris) has served as pastor of the Pickering Standard Church since 2009.
Pastor Chris has a passion for sharing the Gospel and helping people build real, meaningful and lasting relationships with their Heavenly Father through Jesus Christ.
He is a graduate of Tyndale Bible College, now known as Tyndale University, and enjoys reading, movies, music, and classic cars.
His wife Janelle is an Elementary School Teacher with the Durham District School Board.
Pastor Chris and Janelle have been married since 2002.
